Vélaldin Project Nominated for 2007 Presidential
Innovation Awards

Hrafn Thorri Thorisson,
the Vélaldin Emergence Engine Project and a research
carried out on artificial creativity using Vélaldin
as a research tool have been nominated for the
Icelandic Presidential Innovation Awards. The awards
have been an annual event since 1996 and are awarded
for research and innovation achievements in projects
funded by the Icelandic Student Innovation Fund
(Nýsköpunarsjóður Námsmanna).
The awards will be given by the President of Iceland, Mr. Ólafur R. Grímsson, at a formal ceremony at Bessastaðir, the Presidential residence. The nomination committee for the 2007 awards were:
Sigurður Snævarr (Reykjavik City Official)
Davíð Lúðvíksson (The Federation of Icelandic Industries)
Sjöfn Sigurgísladóttir (Chairman of the Icelandic Ministry of Education)
Haukur Þór Hannesson (University of Iceland's Student Committee)
Ingibjörg Elsa Björnsdóttir (The Icelandic Research Center)
