Open Positions in CADIA

As an active center within Reykjavik University, CADIA employs a number of research and technical staff. This page lists the positions that are currently open for applications, including contact information for each position. Ph.D. Positions

Applicants are expected to have a finished an MSc degree in computer science or a related field before starting the PhD program, as well as being proficient in English. To apply for a Ph.D. position, submit an application through Reykjavik University's online application system, including:

  • CV
  • Statement of purpose and research interests (1-2 pages)
  • Transcripts from previous university studies
  • An abstract of the candidate's MSc thesis (or equivalent document)
  • Two letters of reference
  • Other documents the applicant deems relevant

School of Computer Science - Open Positions for Ph.D. Students

  • Position: Ph.D., funded for 3 years
  • Salary: 4.260.000 ISK per year (conversions: EUR, USD) + benefits (pension, national health insurance)
  • Tuition: Waived
  • Travel Funds: None
  • Teaching: Required
  • Supervisor: Choose from CADIA's Computer Science Faculty: David Thue, Hannes Högni Vilhjálmsson, Hrafn Loftsson, Kristinn R. Thórisson, Stephan Schiffel, and Yngvi Björnsson; cross-supervision by other CADIA Faculty is also possible

Specialists


We hope to fill the following open positions for Research Specialists as soon as possible.


Speech Synthesis Specialist

Applications are invited for a research position in text to speech systems at the Language and Voice Laboratory (lvl.ru.is) at Reykjavik University's School of Science and Engineering. The position is sponsored by the Icelandic Language Technology fund grant “Environment for building text-to-speech synthesis for Icelandic.” The main aim of the work will be to set up and advance research on speech synthesis back-end architectures for parametric speech synthesis. The successful candidate will work closely with the other members of the lab who focus on the language specific problems such as text normalization, phonemic analysis and phrasing. Even though the main objective of the work will be on Icelandic, working with other languages will be welcome. The successful candidate will contribute to the academic output of the lab as well as the publication of an open TTS environment for Icelandic.
